You don’t have to be an expert to protect your car from salt corrosion. With simple car care routine, you can easily prevent salt corrosion from your car.
1. Take time to wash your car every week. Regularly washing the car removes road salt, grime, and dirt. This reduces chances of corrosion and rust.
2. Make sure the temperatures are 40 degrees Fahrenheit or more when washing the car to ensure that it completely dries before the temperatures fall again.
3. Lubricate the hinges, locks, and doors after washing the car. Open and close the doors and trunk multiple times to prevent freeze lock.
4. If possible, avoid driving in deep snow. The snow accumulates at the bottom part of the car, which can exacerbate salt corrosion.
5. Avoid driving through stagnant water and mud puddles as the road salt accumulate in such places.
